Meet The Team
Hi, I have been a qualified midwife, working for One to One for 2 years prior to setting up Luna Midwives alongside my colleagues 🌙
During my time with 121, I was trained in KG Hypnobirthing which I taught monthly. I also used Hypnobirthing during my own homebirth 9 years ago and found the visualisation and breathing techniques really enhanced my birth experience. I have attended many births during my career in both home and hospital where the techniques of Hypnobirthing have been used and the births have been incredible to witness.
I have also achieved a certificate in complementary therapies and enjoy using a combination of aromatherapy, massage and reflexology to help calm and prepare for birth.
My passion is for individual, personalised and woman-centred care. I have really enjoyed meeting women at their booking appointment and following them through their pregnancy journey, offering them advice and signposting to relevant agencies to encourage and support informed consent. It has been a great experience to create care plans for high risk pregnancies to ensure they are listened to and supported in their birth.
Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Hi, I’m Amanda and I am an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Born and raised in Cheshire, my passion for supporting new families started after the birth of my first child. I decided on a complete career change and trained as a Baby Wearing Consultant and ran a busy Sling Library and Consultancy for several years. This allowed me to develop a passion for infant mental health and attachment. During this time, I found there was a greater need for supporting families and trained as a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter.
This led me to work for One to One Midwives as a Mother and Midwife Assistant and further sparked my passion for supporting families. Offering individualised, specialist care surrounding infant feeding and normal newborn behaviour.
After the birth of my second child, I decided to further enhance my knowledge and start working towards achieving my certification as an IBCLC, the highest regarded qualification in breastfeeding worldwide. I was delighted to achieve this qualification in 2018.
This allows me to specialise in the clinical management of infant feeding. I have a special interest in complex feeding issues and tongue tie.
Alongside this I also offer breastfeeding education to both parents and health professionals.
Hi! I worked for One to One midwives for just under a year in the Wirral and Ellesmere Port area and I’m absolutely delighted to be working alongside my lovely colleagues to provide women and their families gold standard birth preparation packages and parent education.
I have a special interest in normalising births for women who are in a ‘high risk’ category. I also think it’s important to provide antenatal education for women who are under the high risk pathway and, for whatever reason, may not be able to achieve an all natural birth! As we all know, birth is birth whatever mode it is!
During my time with One to One I witnessed some amazingly empowering homebirths, supported women during beautiful hospital births and double checked with my women they’ve got everything they need for their elective C-section! I loved the individualised care you could provide and following and caring for women from booking to 6 weeks postnatal and informing women of their choices and rights around birth. I particularly enjoyed the ‘lightbulb’ moment when women realised they have choice around birth!! I am hypnobirthing trained and have experience using aromatherapy techniques to prepare for birth
Hello! I'm a former 121 midwife from the West Cheshire team. I currently live in North Wales and i hope to provide additional parent education, birth preparation and pregnancy support not only to women in West Cheshire but also across the boarder in North Wales!
I have a special interest in ensuring informed choice in particular in relation to breech birth after being privalidged enough to support 3 women who had physiological breech homebirths this year! I recently attended Dr Shawn Walker's study day who is a recognised specialist in breech birth across the UK. This study day has ensured I am up to date with current evidence and best practice in relation to breech birth and therefore more able to discuss the risks and benefits for all options in an unbiased way.
My experiences thus far have reinforced my passion for advocating informed choice throughout pregnancy and birth regardless of where you choose to give birth and I believe myself and the rest of the team at Luna midwives can support you to prepare for your pregnancy and birth in the best possible way!
Hi, my name is Lucy and I spent just under a year working with 121 midwives in the West Cheshire area. Following the sad news of the closure of 121, I am so excited to be able to continue the same ethos of care with wonderful colleagues by setting up Luna Midwives
My passion within midwifery is antenatal education, I have a commitment to changing women’s perceptions of labour and birth and being able to empower and support women to realise they have the ability to have control of their childbirth experience, including knowing thier birthrights and options.
Alongside this, I have a special interest in supporting women with more complex social history’s and lifestyles, particularly those who are concerned or worried about feeling judged throughout their pregnancy. Working as a 121 midwife I was able to truly see the benefits of continuity of carer for such women.
I am currently in the process of becoming an accredited practitioner for the Rewind 3 step birth awareness course and I am looking forward to delivering this to women and their partners in need of neutralising any negative emotions from previous birth experiences.
I am a trained hypnobirthing practitioner and am very enthusiastic about the positive effects that self hypnosis can have on women’s experience and perception of birth.
Hi, I’m Emily, a former member of the West Cheshire team at One to One. I had the pleasure of caring for women, babies and their families in Chester and the surrounding areas. I love providing tailor-made care to suit the wants and needs of each family and part of this is providing them with knowledge so they can make informed decisions about their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. Knowledge is power, which is why I’m so excited to be a part of Luna Midwives to offer expectant mums evidence-based information to support their journey into parenthood.
I was lucky to be able to attend the Advanced Midwifery Workshop at The Farm in Tennessee, founded by the mother of midwifery, Ina May Gaskin. At The Farm, not only was I able to delve deeper in to how to support women physically and emotionally, but I was able to gain awareness of their spiritual needs too. At the workshop I gained knowledge in twin birth, breech and vaginal birth after Caesarean section as well as Breast & Belly casting and Rebozo; these skills I learned at The Farm have enabled me to view pregnancy and birth from a more holistic point of view.
